I’ve been playing video games since I was five, but only started writing about them over the past couple years.
The best game ever hasn’t been made yet, but when it is it’ll resemble something like the love child of FTL and the original Zelda. As for my favorite game, that remains a tie between Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country.
Other things that might help you know me even though you don’t know me: I get most of my news-news from Kotaku and IGN, scour Polygon for reviews and features, and prefer Bit Creature to Kill Screen. When it comes to pop culture generally, I check NPR’s Monkey See and Think Progress’ Alyssa Rosenberg first. For everything else I depend on Twitter and the Dish.
The most important part of high school was discovering Radiohead. In college, it was a close reading of Don Quixote. I like each Wes Anderson movie less than the previous one. Star Trek is better than Star Wars. Batman could kill Superman. That also means he could kill any other superhero. I enjoy Joss Whedon but don’t swear by him. I hate Mass Effect 3, but not for the reasons you think. And despite my love of and fascination with new technology, I remain a hopelessly skeptical ludite on most days.
